GBI investigates fatal police shooting in Savannah
SAVANNAH, Ga. - The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is probing a fatal officer-involved shooting in Savannah. Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police spokesman Julian Miller told local media outlets a man was pronounced dead after being shot Thursday morning.
Mayor Edna Jackson says the GBI has been called to take over the investigation because the incident involved a police officer.
Details on the circumstances that led to the shooting weren't immediately available and the man hasn't been identified.
CBS affiliate WTOC reports that Mayor Edna Jackson and Police Chief Julie Tolbert addressed the gathering crowd at the scene, telling them that they plan to keep the family and community informed on what's going on.
