George R.R. Martin tears into Donald Trump in blog post
“Game of Thrones” author George R.R. Martin hasn’t been shy about which candidate he’s backing, but if there was any confusion about it, his latest blog entry posted just before Election Day should clear it up.
In a series of posts to his Livejournal account, Martin let fly with some very strong arguments against Republican nominee Donald Trump and expressed some general election-related anxiety.
“I am not sleeping well, and I think I check 538 about three dozen times a day, hoping for some good news,” he wrote. “Come Tuesday night, I will either be relieved or suicidal. I think I speak for a lot of Americans about that as well.”
In a later post, he took on Trump more directly. “In my lifetime, there has never been a presidential candidate more unfit to lead this nation,” Martin wrote. “Yes, he mocked a disabled reporter. There he is, doing it. Yes, he said he wants to ban all Muslims from entering the US. Here, see the clip.”
Martin also owns the Jean Cocteau Cinema in his hometown of Santa Fe, New Mexico, where he’s pushing a late-in-the-game voter reward.
“We want to do our own part in encouraging everyone to get out and vote, so from now until November 9 anyone who turns up at the Jean Cocteau Cinema with one of those stickers will get a FREE POPCORN,” Martin wrote. “No charge for butter, or the topping of your choice. And we do have the best popcorn in town.”
On Friday, the author participated in early voting in Sante Fe, popping up in a photo from the Hillary for New Mexico Twitter account.
