George P. Bush raises $1.3M for yet-to-be-announced political bid
George P. Bush, the latest up-and-coming politician from the Bush family, isn't entirely sure yet what elected office he's seeking in Texas, but he's already managed to raise a lot of money for his campaign.
In less than two months, the 36-year-old Texan has raised $1.3 million for his first race, the Dallas Morning News reports. George P. Bush, who is the son of former Gov. Jeb Bush, R-Fla., is considering a bid for the low-profile but important role of Texas Land Commissioner. He may, however, consider running for attorney general or governor, and he recently said he is waiting to hear what Texas Gov. Rick Perry's next move will be before making up his mind.

Late last year, Jeb Bush sent a fundraising letter to his network of supporters, asking them to donate to George P. Bush's campaign. Jeb Bush himself and former President George W. Bush (George P.'s uncle) both gave the younger Bush donations of $50,000, the Morning News reports. Their brothers, Neal and Marvin Bush, each gave $1,000, while former President George H.W. Bush (George P.'s grandfather) donated $5,000. Nearly two-thirds of George P. Bush's donations came from within Texas, while a quarter of the donations came from Florida.
While he has never held elected office, George P. Bush (whose mother is from Mexico) has served as chairman of the Hispanic Republicans of Texas, helping the GOP improve its outreach to Latinos.
