BBC is reporting that 47-year-old singer will embark on a tour entitled "Symphonica: The Orchestral Tour" in which he will perform some carefully selected songs and some of his favorites from other artists. He will also be accompanied by a symphony orchestra.

"I felt it was really what I want to do as an artist," Michael told reporters. "I am really not interested or excited by repeating former successes."

Michael, who has a history of drug- and alcohol-related problems, quit touring two years ago.

The Mirror reports that the former WHAM! star said at a news conference at the Royal Opera House in London that he is planning on recording a new album during tour breaks.

The singer will tour across Europe, starting in Prague on Aug. 22. Stops are scheduled in France, Germany Denmark, Italy, Poland, Hungary, Croatia, Spain, Belgium, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Ireland and the UK. The full list of tour dates can be seen here.
