George Lucas says he hasn't seen "Star Wars" teaser
The force apparently hasn't awakened George Lucas.
The filmmaker says he hasn't seen the trailer for the new "Star Wars" film, which hit select theaters and surfaced online the day after the Thanksgiving and has more than 45 million views so far.
Lucas, who created the franchise but isn't heavily involved in the upcoming installment, told The New York Post's Page Six, he hasn't watched the 88-second teaser for J. J. Abrams' movie.
"I don't know anything about it. I haven't seen it yet," he said. Then when asked if he was curious about the way Abrams is handling "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," Lucas simply said, "Not really."
When asked why he hasn't seen the teaser yet, Lucas -- speaking at Bloomberg Businessweek's 85th anniversary -- said, "Because it's not in the movie theater. I like going to the movies and watching the whole thing there. I plan to see it when it's released."
It's unclear whether the 70-year-old director was referring to the trailer (which landed in some 30 theaters over Thanksgiving weekend) or the entire film, which comes out Dec. 18, 2015.
Either way, he sounds content to keep the seventh episode at bay for right now.
Original stars Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher have returned for the new film, which stars Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Lupita Nyong'o and Adam Driver.
