"Game of Thrones" was the most pirated TV show of 2014
The piraters have spoken: "Game of Thrones" was the most illegally downloaded show across the globe for the third year running.
HBO's fantasy drama was downloaded an estimated 8.1 million times, according to TorrentFreak, which compiled data from multiple public BitTorrent trackers.
Coming in second was AMC's "The Walking Dead," with 4.8 million illegal downloads this year.
On TV, the tables are turned; "The Walking Dead" averages 17 million viewers while "Game of Thrones" only holds around 7 million. This is most likely because the latter is only available to HBO subscribers.
The third and fourth spots consist of lighter fare -- the hit comedies "The Big Bang Theory" and "How I Met Your Mother." Then came the DC Comics superhero dramas "Gotham" and "Arrow."
Looks like torrenters preferred the supernatural and undead this year.
