Future King Charles in 2005: "I'm determined to make the most of it"
Britain's King Charles the Third will be crowned this coming Saturday in Westminster Abbey, complete with scepters, orb and anointings – all the royal regalia.
When our Steve Kroft joined him 18 years ago, he was Prince of Wales, but in describing his responsibilities, Charles was already sounding like the man who would be king:
Prince Charles: I would list it as worrying about this country and its inhabitants. That's my particular duty. I find myself born into this particular position, I'm determined to make the most of it and to do whatever I can to help, and, I hope, leave things behind a little bit better than I found them.
Steve Kroft: You...
Prince Charles: So it's hard to say it's a prof--but I think it is a profession, actually doing what I'm doing. Because if you tried it for a bit, you might find out how difficult it is.
