From the archives: Psychic science, circa-1973
In a research laboratory in Brooklyn, sliced ping-pong balls are placed over a woman's eyes to fill her vision with opaque light. All she can hear is the sound of waves crashing against a shore. In the room next door, a man is suspended in a contraption called the Witch's Cradle. His eyes are covered and his earphones are playing constant static. These two are in sensory deprivation, preparing for an ESP experience-- and Mike Wallace is there to see it.
It's 1973 and this piece, titled "Psychic World," is a 60 Minutes story on the power of psychics and the scientific researchers who study them.
