#Friendster deleting all data: Do we still care?
But, wait don't all log at once: Some people are reporting on Twitter that the site is slowing down. It may be due to too many people trying to log back in for one last hurrah.
To make life easier, Friendster provides an application for quick and easy exporting, and among its features is an option of porting content to third-party sites like Flickr and Multiply. But make no mistake. Friendster is not shutting down and your account will not be deleted -- two points the company doesn't want to get lost in the media blitz. The site is merely shifting focus away from networking and more on entertainment."There will be new features that will leverage on your online activities and will enable you to connect with friends or engage new friends with similar interests," the company noted in a post."Our improved site is designed to create new profiles that allow you to connect differently with people and do things differently than other networking sites. Basically, the new site will complement your existing online presence in other social networking sites."What this means exactly I have no idea, but it does have me thinking about Friendster -- something I haven't done in years. So, good job, Friendster, of getting my attention. But now you're job is to keep it. The new and improved Friendster is slated for release in a few weeks.
