Friends and family suspect foul play in case of missing Tenn. mother Karen Swift
(CBS) - Friends and family of Karen Johnson Swift, the missing Tennessee mother of four, say there is no way Swift would have run away of her own accord, leaving behind her children.
The 44-year-old Dyersburg mother was reported missing by her husband on October 31th. Her car was found abandoned near her home with a flat tire.
"It's not in her nature," Carrie Engelhardt, a friend of Swift's, told FOX News. "We're really concerned and worried because it's been over a week now."
Fox News is reporting that on Saturday, authorities arrested her neighbor, John E. Hogshooter, for supposedly poisoning two dogs, including one of Swift's.
Swift's friend, who chose to remain nameless, said Hogshooter and Swift "may have had words" before she disappeared. Police have not commented on a possible connection between the missing mother and the neighbor, who is being held without bond at the Dyer County Jail.
Jeff Box, Dyer County Sheriff, said that investigators found possible evidence in an overgrown area, but declined to elaborate further.
He said, "We are searching for anything of interest and we are still inspecting other potential evidence, which we have recovered."
Karen Swift is 5-feet-5 inches tall, 138 pounds, and has blonde hair and green eyes. Police ask anyone who may have seen her or anyone with information regarding her whereabouts to contact the Dyer County Sheriff's Office at 731-285-2802.
