Free Willy!

American experts are joining Canadian authorities in a bid to free a whale tangled up in a fishing line off Nova Scotia.

The endangered North American right whale was first spotted June 8 off Cape Cod with the line embedded in its jaw. Scientists say the wound has become infected and is weakening the whale.

Rescuers have approached the creature five times, attempting to sedate it so the line can be removed.

The whale, named Churchill, was tracked Wednesday to a spot 60 miles from Sable Island, Nova Scotia.

The team of Canadian and American rescuers is waiting for the weather to clear to make another effort to sedate it.
