Free Uninstaller Challenges Revo for Uninstaller Supremacy
IObit's free Advanced Uninstaller removes all traces of unwanted programs. It's fast, easy to use, and stocked with a few perks not found in perennial favorite Revo Uninstaller.
I've used the latter for years, and it has served me well. So why would I choose Advanced Uninstaller instead?
For starters, it offers one key feature Revo lacks: batch uninstall. You can select multiple programs to be removed instead of having to uninstall them one at a time. That's a great time-saver during those "spring cleaning" sessions when you want to clear out months' worth of unwanted apps.
What's more, AU is tiny -- under 700K -- and it requires no installation, meaning it's one less program gunking up your system. Indeed, it is by definition a portable app, meaning you can (and should) add it to your arsenal of flash-drive utilities.
For power users, AU offers a Forced Uninstall option that can help root out and remove those pesky programs that don't appear in the list of installed software.
I also like the different filters you can use to view installed software, like Recently Installed and Rarely Used. Unfortunately, on my system AU came up empty with both those categories. Granted, I hadn't installed anything recently, but surely there are apps I rarely use. Not sure what's up with that.
Ultimately, I suspect I'll stick with Revo for my desktop, but add AU to my flash drive for on-the-go uninstalling.
