Frank Stallone goes on Twitter rant to protest brother Sly's Oscars loss

Frank Stallone would not like to thank the Academy -- certainly not after what they did to his brother.

Sylvester Stallone was up for Best Supporting Actor at the Oscars for "Creed" Sunday, but he lost out to "Bridge of Spies" star Mark Rylance. And Sly's brother Frank was not happy about that turn of events.

"The Academy should be ashamed of themselves," Frank wrote in a slew of since-deleted tweets. "It's as clear as the nose on your face that Sly won. Mark who? It's total Hollywood bulls**t."

He also had some advice for the category's winner: "If I was Mark? I would have been embarrassed," Frank wrote. "Mark Rylance couldn't even comb his hair for Christ sake this is the 3rd time Sly's gotten ripped off."

Apparently calmer heads eventually prevailed. After deleting the angry tweets from his profile, Frank posted an apology -- though he didn't drop his defensive edge: "I will always defend what right but I was wrong to put down Mark Rylance and I apologize. He is a fine actor but I thought Sly deserved it."
