Former "Manhattan Madam" Kristin Davis Running for Governor in the State of New York
ALBANY, N.Y. (CBS/AP) Kristin Davis is using her skills as the former "Manhattan Madam" to pursue a political career - she's running in New York's gubernatorial race.
Davis, who has secured a line on the ballot in November for her Anti-Prohibition Party, says she's running for governor to push her causes of legalizing and taxing marijuana, legalizing gay marriage and decriminalizing prostitution.
"I am a protest candidate. The career politicians have run this state into the ground. Both Republicans and Democrats, working together, have given us the highest property taxes in the nation," Davis told The New York Post.
Davis, who used to boast about her three escort services with $900-an-hour-prostitutes, is now promoting her marijuana proposal, which she claims will bring in billions of dollars in revenue for the state of New York.
She also believes New York should legalize prostitution like Nevada, in order to protect prostitutes from pimps and sexually transmitted diseases, says The Post.
The ex-Madam plans to do a statewide tour hitting Utica, Rochester, and Buffalo within the month.
If Davis is able to secure 50,000 votes in November, she will receive an automatic ballot line for at least four years and gain a voice in New York politics.
"I'm pretty confident we'll get it," she told The Post.
Although it has not been proven, Davis claims to already have ties to the governor's chair, saying that she once provided prostitutes to former Gov. Eliot Spitzer, who resigned amid a prostitution scandal.
