For sizzle: Company offers bacon-flavored condoms
Now you can bring home the bacon -- straight to the bedroom.
J&D -- a purveyor of interesting flavored items like bacon shaving cream and Sriracha lip balm -- is now offering bacon-flavored condoms. The latex prophylactics are printed to look just like the breakfast side dish and filled with "baconlube," a water-based lubricant that is advertised to taste and smell like the greasy, fried meat. The entire package is sealed in a white wrapper featuring an image of -- you guessed it -- bacon.
"Every Bacon Condom has been rigorously tested to help ensure reliability and the utmost safety for when you're makin' Bacon," the company claims on its website.
J&D co-founder Justin Esch told the Miami New Times that the company worked with the Food and Drug Administration to make sure it met with government regulations.
"The FDA is involved and there's a lot of testing that goes on," he said. "We could have made novelty condoms, but really, what fun is that?"
But as strong as American's taste for bacon may be, Esch said the company knew when to say when. He told the Huffington Post in a separate interview that the product doesn't feel like bacon. The company figured that bacon-textured condoms wouldn't be appealing to customers.
