Footprints in snow lead to arrest in Colorado thefts
ENGLEWOOD, Colo. - After more than two dozen "smash-and-grab" burglaries in the Denver area in about a week, police say footprints in the snow led them to a suspect in at least two of the thefts, reports CBS Denver.
Police responded to a strip mall in Englewood, Colo., at approximately 2:30 a.m. Friday, where a computer repair store and Asian restaurant had both been hit by a burglar. Outside one of the businesses, police noticed a set of footprints leading away from the strip mall.
They followed the footprints to an apartment, where they encountered and arrested a suspect, police say.
A man was arrested at his apartment.
There was no cash in the restaurant but the suspect allegedly stole numerous electronic devices from the repair store. Owners of both the Asian restaurant and repair store say they have been hit before, and are glad to see that someone is in custody.
Police are working to determine if the suspect is connected to more of the recent "smash-and-grabs" in the area.
