"Footloose" star Julianne Hough overwhelmed by "DWTS" return

NEW YORK (CBS) The cast of the "Footloose" remake have been on their feet this week.

On Tuesday, former "Dancing with the Stars" performer (and two-time winner) Julianne Hough marked her return to the show, which is taped in Los Angeles, with a special performance alongside her "Footloose" co-star, and fellow dancer, Kenny Wormald. She also performed with her brother, Derek, one of the show's professional dancers.

Less than 24 hours later, the two co-stars were on the other side of the country in New York for a special red-carpet screening of "Footloose."

Hough, who is battling a cold, spoke with us about her emotional return to her old 'DWTS" stomping ground.

"It's pretty crazy but you gotta love it," said of her chaotic itinerary. "Sometimes you get a little sniffle and a little cold, but it doesn't matter at the end of the day."

In fact, tit was more than a sniffle that misted her eyes Tuesday at "DWTS."

" I knew that going back there and promoting something like "Footloose" on the show was going to be overwhelming," Hough said. "But I haven't done anything live for so long, so to hear the crowd and the applause and just seeing all the faces that I knew on the show and all my friends, it was a little overwhelming."

Speculation has intensified as to whether this new "Footloose" will in fact live up to the 1984 Kevin Bacon-starring original. Audiences will get to see for themselves when the remake opens in theaters nationwide this weekend.
