Florida police K-9 finds a "Bone" during search
The Polk County Sheriff’s Office in Winter Haven, Florida, had some fun Thursday announcing an unusual capture by their K-9 Triton this week.
The department said the police dog tracked and caught a suspect named David Wayne Bone, 32.
“File this under ‘You can’t make this stuff up,’” the police department wrote in a pun-filled Facebook post Thursday morning.
Triton and his partner, Deputy Seth Morozowski, were asked to respond to an outstanding felony warrant call at Bone’s home in Mulberry, Florida when they spotted the suspect. Deputies were given consent to search the home by a resident, Patricia Lamely, and gave several warnings for Bone to surrender, reports CBS affiliate WTSP.
“Triton found the Bone, hiding in the closet, and trying to get in the attic,” the department stated. “He didn’t bite the Bone, because the Bone was smart and complied with the deputies’ orders to come out.”
“No bones about it, this was a great capture! Good job, Triton!” the post said.
The suspect, who surrendered peacefully to deputies, was taken to Polk County Jail on multiple charges including resisting arrest, possession of meth, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Five other suspects who were in Bone’s house at the time were also arrested on a variety of other charges, police said.
Bone has since been released on bond, WTSP reports.
“No bones about it, this was a great capture!” the police department said. “Good job, Triton! #YouCantMakeThisStuffUp #GiveADogABone.”
