Five people dead in Oikos University shooting, suspect in custody, says report
(CBS/AP) OAKLAND, Calif. - Five people are dead and a suspect has been detained in a shooting attack at an Oakland Christian university, say sources for The Associated Press.
Law enforcement sources close to the investigation told the AP that at least five people have died after the Monday morning shooting at Oikos University.
Police spokeswoman Johnna Watson previously confirmed that there were fatalities in the shooting but could not say how many.
The shooting was reported shortly after 10:30 a.m. PST.
CBS San Francisco is reporting that police say the suspect was taken into custody at a shopping center in nearby Alameda. Police described the alleged gunman as a Korean man in his 40s with a heavy build and wearing khaki clothing.
According to its website, Oikos University offers studies in theology, music, nursing and Asian medicine.
