Aliens make contact with Amy Adams in the first trailer for "Arrival"

Aliens make first contact in Denis Villeneuve’s new film, “Arrival” -- and if the first trailer is any indication, things are going to be a bit tense.

Amy Adams stars as Louise Banks, a top-notch linguistics expert tasked with finding a way to communicate with the extraterrestrial visitors, who arrive in giant, black, pod-shaped ships. Alongside Adams, the film also stars Jeremy Renner and Forest Whitaker.

“As mankind teeters on the verge of global war, Banks and the team race against time for answers -- and to find them, she will take a chance that could threaten her life, and quite possibly humanity,” the synopsis warns.
