Shooting at automotive plant leaves 1 dead, 2 injured in Tennessee
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. - One person was killed and two others were injured in a shooting outside an automotive part production plant in Cookeville, Tennessee, CBS affiliate WTVF-TV reports.
Cookeville police said the incident took place at 10:35 a.m. on Tuesday at the Ficosa facility located just off Interstate 40.
Mayor Ricky Shelton announced that three people, including the alleged shooter, had been shot. Police said the female suspect was killed and two others were airlifted to area hospitals with critical injuries.
“There is no outside threat to the community,” the mayor wrote on Facebook. “More details when they’re available. Please pray for all those involved!”
The Cookeville Police Department is investigating the shooting as an isolated domestic violence incident. They added that the scene is secure and there is no danger to the public.
Both victims work at the plant, police said, but it’s unclear if the suspect was also an employee.
WTVF estimated that 200-300 employees work at the Ficosa facility. Last year, the company relocated to the New Highlands Business Park in Cookeville, where they manufacture rearview mirrors for vehicles.
