Report: Woman, child found dead were ex-teacher and son she had with student
NEW YORK — A woman found dead with an electrical cord wrapped around her neck in a Bronx apartment Monday was a former a teacher who was fired in 2012 for having a sexual relationship with a student, and a 4-year-old boy found dead in the apartment’s bathtub was the son she had with that student, reports The New York Times.
The 36-year-old woman, identified by police sources as Felicia Barahona, was found Monday morning after her building’s superintendent smelled a foul odor and peered through her fire escape window and saw her body.
The child, whose first name was Miguel, was found soon after.
It is not clear when exactly the two died. A medical examiner has yet to determine the causes of death.
Barahona was an Afghanistan war veteran who taught science at DeWitt Clinton High School before she was fired for her relationship with the student, who was 18 at the time, according to local media reports.
