Family of Detroit man questioned in his wife's murder says he's innocent
(CBS/AP) GROSSE POINTE PARK, Mich. - The family of a suburban Detroit man who was questioned in the strangulation death of his wife says he's innocent in her murder.
The body of missing 56-year-old Jane Bashara was found in a car parked outside an east Detroit alley on Wednesday.
Relatives of 54-year-old Bob Bashara said Sunday they know "he's incapable of this horrific act."
Police have said Bob Bashara was a "person of interest." No charges have been brought against him and police say he is cooperating with their investigation. His lawyer, John Brusstar said in a statement the family was asking for "prayers, support and respect of their privacy."
Bob Bashara told The Detroit Free Press on Thursday that police were keeping him at arm's length and giving him little information on their investigation.
Detroit police say they found the victim's body about 9:30 a.m Wednesday in the rear seat of a car that is believed to have belonged to her.
Bob Bashara reported the mother of two missing Tuesday, police said. Detroit and Grosse Pointe Park investigators are working together on the case.
Police searched the couple's for about four hours Friday night and removed what appeared to be two computers from the two-story brick house.
Investigators interviewed Bob Bashara and gave him a polygraph test Friday night, but the results have not been released by police.
