Faith Hill stepping down from "Sunday Night Football" theme

Faith Hill is out of the game.

The country star announced Monday morning on Twitter that she won't be doing the "Sunday Night Football" theme song this year:

Hill's been featured at the top of the broadcast since 2007.

The theme song was a reworked version of the 1988 Joan Jett song, "I Hate Myself for Loving You."

Hill added in another tweet that it's been an honor to appear on the NBC show, but that it's time to "let someone else rock the open. Difficult decision. Kinda emotional."

"Sunday Night Football" executive producer Fred Gaudelli tweeted "great love and appreciation" to Hill for her participation over the years. He made no mention of what the show plans to do with the opening.
