(CBS/AP) Sheriff's detectives have given their extortion investigation into Oksana Grigorieva, Mel Gibson's ex-girlfriend, to prosecutors, who are now reviewing potential cases against both her and the Academy Award winner.

Sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore says detectives gave the results of their investigation into Grigorieva to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's office around noon on Wednesday.
He declined to say whether detectives are advocating that charges be filed.
The agency began investigating Grigorieva last year after Gibson claimed she tried to extort him while they were involved in a bitter custody feud.
Last summer the gossip site RadarOnline.com released a series of taped phone conversations, apparently between Gibson and Grigorieva, in which Gibson seems to threaten Grigorieva and uses a racial slur.
Detectives investigated Gibson over a report that he hit the Russian musician during a fight in January 2010.
