Everson Griffen, Minnesota Vikings Defensive End, Tased After Allegedly Attacking Officer

(CBS/AP) Despite not making it to the playoffs, Minnesota Vikings defensive end Everson Griffen has apparently been fairly busy in the off-season. Los Angeles police say Griffen was arrested Monday for assaulting an officer during a traffic stop, reportedly making it his second arrest in just three days.

Police spokeswoman Karen Rayner tells City News Service that officers used a Taser to subdue Griffen who became "uncooperative and tried to run from officers" during a routine traffic stop Monday afternoon in South Los Angeles.

The former University of Southern California lineman apparently failed to show identification to officers before attempting to flee on foot, reports celebrity gossip site TMZ.

Rayner says when officers caught up with the rookie, he assaulted an officer and a Taser was used to take him into custody.

Griffen was booked for investigation of felony battery, making it his second arrest in three days after he was busted Friday night in Hollywood for being intoxicated in public, according to TMZ.

Griffen, who played for USC from 2007-2009, posted a $50,000 bail and was released from a Los Angeles jail Tuesday morning, according to the L.A. County Sheriff's jail Web site. He is expected to appear in court Feb. 25.

Griffen entered the 2010 NFL draft as a junior, and was selected by Minnesota in the fourth round.

Vikings spokesman Jeff Anderson said Tuesday that the organization is looking into the incident.
