Eugene Crum, Mingo County, W. Va. sheriff, shot outside courthouse
(CBS) MINGO COUNTY, W. Va. - Police say a sheriff in West Virginia was shot Wednesday outside of a courthouse.
According to CBS affiliate WOWK, Mingo County Sheriff Eugene Crum was shot in front of the courthouse in Williamson.
West Virginia State Police reportedly say they've apprehended a suspect but have not yet released a name. Crum's condition is currently unknown.
CBS affiliate WKYT reports that the courthouse was put on lockdown.
Crum is known for his tough enforcement program known as Operation Zero Tolerance and in 2012 the prosecutor's office saw the third highest number of felony convictions in Mingo County history, WOWK reports.
