Emmy Rossum and Adam Duritz Call it Quits
NEW YORK (CBS) It's over between actress Emmy Rossum and Counting Crows frontman Adam Duritz.
The 23-year-old "Phantom of the Opera" starlet revealed to USA Today Tuesday that she and Duritz split two months ago, but remain "very close friends."
The pair were first romantically linked in 2009 after Rossum split from then-husband music executive Justin Segal.
Rossum, who will next appear on Showtime's new series, "Shameless," in January, said on the Valentine in the Morning Radio Show around the time of her divorce that she and Duritz, 46, first met through Twitter.
"I was on tour with the band this summer. They invited me actually on Twitter," Rossum said according to People. "That's how we met - on a dare. They dared me to come sing with them a song that I'd never sung before ... So I ended up on tour with the band, and it was very, very fun."
Their first big public outing was when they arrived together at American Ballet Theatre gala in October 2009.
"I get why chicks dig him,"she said at the time to People of Duritz, who has previously been linked to Courteney Cox and Jennifer Aniston. "He's extremely kind, incredibly intelligent, thoughtful, creative and respectful."
