(CBSNews) Sofia Coppola has cast Emma Watson to star in her new film "The Bling Ring," the true story of a group of teenagers who broke into the homes of celebrities, including Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan, reports say.

"I'm excited about the young cast we're assembling and I'm looking forward to shooting on location here in Los Angeles," said Coppola, who will write and direct the film, according to Variety.

Watson, who is known for playing Hermione in "Harry Potter" franchise, has been focusing more on small budget films. She was recently seen in "My Week With Marilyn" and just finished filming "Perks of Being a Wallflower," reports Variety.

The Oscar-winning director has been known to work with child actors in transition, with Scarlett Johansson in "Lost in Translation" and Elle Fanning in her latest film "Somewhere."
