Emilia Clarke cast as Sarah Connor in "Terminator" reboot
Emilia Clarke, best known for playing Daenerys Targaryen on HBO's "Game of Thrones," has been cast as Sarah Connor in the upcoming “Terminator” reboot.
Her casting was confirmed Friday by Paramount, according to the Los Angeles Times.
Details of the film have not been revealed, but it will reportedly be the first installment in a new stand-alone trilogy for the "Terminator" franchise.
Brie Larson was reportedly also considered for the role, which was first played by Linda Hamilton in the original 1984 sci-fi/action film and its sequel, "Terminator 2: Judgment Day." Clarke's "Game of Thrones" co-star Lena Headey also played Connor in the short-lived television series "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles."
Variety reports that actor Jason Clarke ("Zero Dark Thirty") began negotiations last week to play Sarah Connor's son, John Connor. Arnold Schwarzeneggar is also said to be returning for the project.
The "Terminator" reboot is set to hit theaters on July 1, 2015.
