Effectively Search within a Site

searchwithinsite.jpgThe way some companies' websites are laid out, you'd think they were intentionally trying to turn off potential clients. There's often no real rhyme or reason for certain information to be placed at a particular spot within the site, and the built-in search function—if there is one—often doesn't work that well. (In BNET's case, I'd say it works well, but is still pretty darn confusing.)

So if you're looking for something at a site, why not leave it to the company that has established itself as the best search company in the world? If you want to know, say, the employee benefits at McDonalds, simply go over to the navigation box at google.com and type in your query (in this case "employee benefits" followed by site:mcdonalds.com.

If, for some reason, that's just too complicated, feel free to use Google's advance search function, which allows you to limit your search to a particular domain as well.
