Driver charged with running over, killing Navy officer was accused of similar move before
CHULA VISTA, Calif. -- A woman charged with killing a Navy officer by running him down with her car has been the subject of two restraining orders, including one in which a man accused her of trying to hit him with her car.
Darla Jackson, 25, is charged with murder for allegedly hitting and then running over Zacharias Buob, who was riding a motorcycle on the afternoon of May 28 on Interstate 5, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune. She pleaded not guilty and her bail is set at $1 million.
According to court documents obtained by CBS affiliate KFMB, two different men requested restraining orders against Jackson in 2012. In one, the man, who describes Jackson as "a friend who I have had relations with," stated that Jackson called him 200 times and sent 100 text messages allegedly threatening to kill him or hurt herself and tell police he had done it.
The man further stated that in July 2012 he and Jackson were riding in her car when they got into an argument and he asked her to let him out. He told police that he began walking away but she told him, "I'm going to run your b***h ass over with my car."
He continued: "Another car was pulling into the parking lot so I got behind that car to try to get away. [Jackson] still proceeded to come at me and I pushed myself off her hood. I proceeded to run and I eventually jumped over a fence to get away."
The same man said that the next month, Jackson came to his work and refused to leave until police arrived.
In addition to having two restraining orders requested against her, Jackson filed restraining orders against two different men, one in 2004 and one in 2013. She reportedly has no criminal record but according to the Union-Tribune, her driver's license was suspended from January 2013 to 2015 due to "lack of knowledge or skill," although no further details were available.
According to KFMB, Jackson's mother says that Boub, 39, was weaving in and out of traffic and that he kicked her daughter's car, and she followed him to get his insurance information. The Union-Tribune reports that in court on Tuesday, the prosecutor said Jackson pushed Boub with her car for 300 feet until he went down, and then ran him over.
