"Downton Abbey" actress Lily James to star in "Cinderella"
Disney has finally found someone who fits into Cinderella's glass slipper.
After a rather long hunt, Disney announced on Tuesday that it finally found its Cinderella, for a new live-action version of the classic fairy tale. Lily James from "Downton Abbey" (she plays the wild cousin, Lady Rose MacClare) has been cast in the title role.
Emma Watson was at one time being considered, but a deal reportedly could not be worked out.
Kenneth Branagh is directing the film, and Cate Blanchett is playing the evil stepmother. Allison Shearmur ("The Hunger Games: Catching Fire"), David Barron ("Jack Ryan") and Simon Kinberg are producing the film.
