Douglas: No Santa Barbara Marriage

Movie stars Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones are planning a beachfront wedding in California's Santa Barbara on Sept. 30, Britain's Sun newspaper reports. Through a spokesman, Douglas denies the report.

Douglas and Welsh-born Zeta-Jones reportedly have chosen a luxury 78-acre vacation complex as the venue for their wedding, just weeks after the actress gave birth to their son Dylan on Aug. 9.

The British tabloid said the wedding will take place at the Spanish-style Bacara Resort and Spa, which has a ballroom measuring 11,300 square foot and a private beach overlooking the Pacific Ocean.

Douglas's spokesman denied the report, saying that while the couple plans to marry, they have never heard of the resort, Reuters reports.

The two stars met at the Deauville Film Festival in France in August 1998, began dating in March 1999 and got engaged on New Year's Eve. Douglas, son of Hollywood veteran Kirk Douglas, has starred in box office hits including Fatal Attraction and Wall Street.

Zeta-Jones, who started her career in the British television series The Darling Buds of May, went on to carve a film career with hits including Entrapment and The Mask of Zorro.
