"Divergent" author Veronica Roth gives film version her review

Don't fret, "Divergent" fans -- the author who penned the bestselling book has given the film version her seal of approval.

Veronica Roth, who wrote "Divergent" and its two sequels, took to her blog Monday and revealed that she's seen the upcoming big-screen adaptation of her work, starring Shailene Woodley, Theo James, Kate Winslet and Ashley Judd, among others.

Her verdict? Thumbs up.

"I loved it," Roth wrote. "I was completely absorbed by it. Even though I am so familiar with this story, I clearly remember grabbing the arms of my chair when Tris runs to catch the train after the Choosing Ceremony because I was nervous that she wouldn't make it. (And then I thought to myself...YOU WROTE THE STORY, VERONICA.)"

Roth said the film was "brilliantly shot" and credited all of the actors -- calling out Woodley and James, specifically -- as well as director Neil Burger for bringing the story to life.

"I was nervous to see it, as I think any author whose book is being adapted for the screen would be," she admitted. "But I remember remarking when I first went to set that everyone involved with the movie seemed so thoughtful about the story they were helping to build, and I feel like the final product reflects that."

"Divergent" hits theaters on March 21.
