"Dirty Dancing" remake headed to TV with actress Abigail Breslin
"Dirty Dancing" will be coming back to life - this time on the small screen in the form of a TV musical movie.
News broke Tuesday that actress Abigail Breslin is expected to star as Baby in the ABC film, which will be written by Jessica Sharzer ("American Horror Story," "The L Word"), according to Variety.
Jennifer Grey played Baby in the original 1987 hit film, which co-starred Patrick Swayze as Johnny Castle. Set at a Catskills, New York, resort, "Dirty Dancing" followed the budding romance of a young teenager who falls for the resort's dance teacher. There's no word yet on who will take the Johnny role.
This isn't the first time "Dirty Dancing" has been rebooted. In 2004, "Havana Nights" surfaced, which followed the same story -- but in Cuba. And in 1988, a TV series ran, starring Patrick Cassidy and Melora Hardin.
