Dick Van Dyke is a newlywed

(CBS News) Dick Van Dyke is a newlywed at the age of 86. The actor married 40-year-old makeup artist, Arlene Silver, on Feb. 29, reports Rumor Fix.

Van Dyke said he met Silver at the SAG Awards about six years ago.

"I was in the green room and she passed through and I was bowled over by her beauty," he told the site. "She became my makeup artist, and ultimately worked her way up to wife," Van Dyke joked.

Van Dyke's new wife added, "He's the happiest person I ever met. He's got an infectious spirit ... always signing, always humming, always in a good mood."

Van Dyke and his first wife, Margie Willet, had four children together, but later divorced. Van Dyke lived with actress Michelle Triola for more than 30 years, until she died in 2009.

"I'm not a loner," he said. "I have to have a life partner. I found the perfect one."
