"Dexter" season finale ends with a bang
(CBS) Sunday night's season finale of "Dexter" was called "This is the Way the World Ends," and it certainly ended in a big way.
The religion-themed sixth season finished up with a major cliffhanger that will certainly keep fans talking until the show returns (Warning: Spoilers ahead).
The finale ended with Dexter (Michael C. Hall) killing the season's big villain, the Doomsday Killer (Colin Hanks), in an abandoned church. Dexter's adopted sister, Debra, walks in just in time to see him plunge the knife into the killer's chest. The episode ends with Deb's look of shock and Dexter's voiceover: "Oh, God."
So, it took six seasons, but Deb finally discovered Dexter's secret. But where will the show go from here? Will he explain his Dark Passenger and serial killer past? Or will he try to convince her that this was a one-time kill? Either way, Deb's going to have to balance her love for her brother (literally - she had just professed to her psychiatrist earlier in the episode that she loved Dexter, and was going to tell him about it) against her duty as lieutenant of Miami Metro's homicide unit.
Fans will have to wait to find out what happens - Showtime recently announced they had renewed the show for a seventh and eighth season, and closed a deal with Hall to play Dexter for two more years.
