Devin Small, Va. mother, charged with murder after her newborn is found in toilet, report says
(CBS/AP) DINWIDDIE, Va. - The mother of a newborn faces a murder charge after her baby was found dead in a toilet over the weekend.
The Dinwiddie County Sheriff's Office said through a news release that 22-year-old Devin Monique Small has been charged with first-degree murder.
Police say Small had given birth to the infant in a toilet at a residence in the Sutherland area. Deputies found the infant dead in the toilet around 2 a.m. Saturday.
Small was being held Wednesday without bond at the Meherrin Regional Jail.
According to police, at least three other women were at the home when police arrived, reports CBS affiliate WTVR.
An investigation is ongoing.
