Detroit police request warrant in case of missing 2-year-old Bianca Jones
(CBS/WWJ/AP) DETROIT - The Detroit police department has requested a warrant in connection with the disappearance of 2-year-old Bianca Jones, whose father claims she was taken during a carjacking.
Police will not say who is named as the suspect in the warrant request, reports CBS Detroit. The request is being reviewed and no decision will be made this week.
The search warrant request follows a week long hunt for the missing toddler in the area where she was last seen. Her father, D'Andre Lane, told police that he was in the vehicle with Bianca when it was carjacked. Lane pleaded with volunteers to keep looking although organized search efforts came to an end Sunday.
Police have said the Jones's father's story is under "intense scrutiny" by investigators, who have searched Lane's home several times, taking flash drives, laptops and sheets from the girl's bed.
The missing girl's father said he's "done nothing wrong" in the case. Police have identified no suspects related to the alleged carjacking.
CBS Detroit reports cadaver dogs brought in to search for Jones allegedly hit on the scent of human remains in several spots linked to the toddler.
