Denim Fashions For Fall
They're the most versatile pieces of clothing in nearly everyone's closet: denim jeans.
And they're the keys to multiple looks emerging for fall.
The editors at Glamour magazine (us.glamour.com) have their fingers on the pulse of the latest trends, and Executive Fashion Editor at Large Suze Yalof Schwartz stopped by The Early Show Tuesday with some of the jeans likely to land high on women's shopping lists.
Most women own denim, which can be had at nearly any price point. And denim jeans have really become a wardrobe staple, just like the little black dress.
Denim isn't just for casual weekend days anymore. Depending on your style and mood, Schwartz points out, you can dress up denim for a polished look or an edgy, rocker look.
This season, you'll find something for you. The trends, Schwartz observes, are definitely bold. They're all about making a statement, whether dramatic shapes or brand new shades, they aren't your typical pair of jeans.
THE JEANS SCHWARTZ BROUGHT TO THE SET, and her comments on them:
LOOK 1: SAILOR JEANS
These sailor-style jeans from Seven have a nautical feel and an infinitely flattering cut. They're great for someone who wants to downplay her thighs; the placement of the buttons draws attention away from your thighs, and the slightly flared, wider cut of the leg keeps everything in balance.

LOOK 2: COLORED JEANS
Colored jeans can be tricky, but if you find a wash that's not too bright, like these from Habitual, they're incredibly easy to wear. I love the combination of a summery red with a not-quite-traditional striped button-down. The skinny style is a perfect fit for someone with long, lean legs but they're great on women of all sizes — you just have to have the right top!

LOOK 3: HIGH-WAISTED JEANS
A high-waisted, trouser-style jean may seem intimidating at first, but they're super chic and a big trend this season. We matched this belted pair from Express with a top with a little volume, which actually balances the look, so the jeans don't overwhelm your frame. The wide cut on these pants hides a multitude of sins, but they're best on someone with a longer torso.

LOOK 4: ANKLE-LENGTH
The new shape for the skinny jean this season? An ankle-length cut. I love this pair from Bitten, which also features another denim trend: zippers. They're perfect when paired with heels or flats, though the vertically challenged of us out there should stick with heels for a jean that stops at the ankle. The best thing about these jeans though may be the price — they're only $20

LOOK 5: ORGANIC JEANS
According to a United Nations report, it takes two-thirds of a pound of pesticides to produce enough cotton to make a single pair of jeans. H&M is carrying an entire line of organic cotton this season. H&M's jeans are just as fashionable as other jeans, but they're much gentler on the planet. Faded jeans are back, as is the wide leg, high-waisted look. Buying organic isn't the only way to help the planet when buying jeans: You can recycle your old jeans at denimdoctor.com, a Web site that dyes and revives old denim.
