Debate watchers liked Jeb Bush's jab at Donald Trump
Jeb Bush's early offensive against businessman Donald Trump at the fifth Republican debate in Las Vegas caught the attention of the Internet. The top social moment of the debate on Facebook came when he told Trump that insults wouldn't help him win.
"Donald, you're not going to be able to insult your way to the presidency. That's not going to happen," Bush told Trump after the two argued about how to fight the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS). "Leadership is not about attacking people and disparaging people. Leadership is about creating a serious strategy to deal with the threat of our time."
The top issues discussed on Facebook during the debate closely mirrored the questions the candidate fielded -- Islam, ISIS, terrorism, racial discrimination and immigration.
The debate opened with a lengthy discussion of Trump's proposal to temporarily ban Muslims from entering the United States - a topic he complained about late in the debate.
But he did dominate the social media conversation as the number one candidate discussed on social media. Second was Ted Cruz, the Texas senator who recently began overtaking Trump in some polls of likely Iowa Republican caucus attendees.
Bush and his fellow Floridian, Sen. Marco Rubio, tied for third place for candidates discussed on Facebook. Former neurosurgeon Ben Carson was fifth most-discussed.
