Davy Jones' ashes taken to England for private memorial
(CBS News) Davy Jones' family traveled to England with his ashes after holding a private funeral for the late star in Florida.
The former front man for the band The Monkees died at the age of 66 of a heart attack and was remembered at a service in Manchester..
Jones' widow, Jessica, and four daughters traveled to Manchester, England, with Jones' ashes for another private service for the entertainer.
"He came home to Machester," Jones' niece Beverley Barber told the BBC. "His ashes weren't scattered in Manchester although they were placed on his parents' grave for a little while."
While the ceremony was private, Barber said a public memorial in the U.K. still could be a possibility.
"We managed to keep [the memorial] very private and very personal, all his family together in one room," she said to the BBC. "He'd have been thrilled to bits to see that."
None of the former Monkees were at the memorial in England. They did not attend the Florida service either because they reportedly did not want to turn the family's private goodbye into a "media circus," according to E! News.
