Dangerfield Out Of Danger
Anyone else would have had quadruple or quintuple bypass surgery, but, of course, comedian Rodney Dangerfield gets no respect and only had double bypass earlier this week.
He's reported as making a good recovery.
Dangerfield's business manager said the 77-year-old Dangerfield was hospitalized in Las Vegas last week after completing a six-night performance at the MGM Grand hotel-casino and complaining of chest pains. He was flown to Los Angeles and had surgery on Tuesday.
The business manager said Dangerfield did not suffer a heart attack, and could be released from the hospital as early as Sunday.
Besides his stand-up "I don't get no respect" comedy routines, Dangerfield — born Jacob Cohen — has starred in a number of films, including Caddyshack and Easy Money and was a featured performer on the The Dean Martin Show in the 1972-73 season.
My Nine Wives, a film for which he is listed as co-writer and a star, and Little Nickey, an Adam Sandler film in which he is featured, are slated for release later this year. He has made 70 appearances on the Tonight show and in 1997, went public with his lifelong battle against depression. He has an official Web site.
