D.C. Metro service suspended over water main break
WASHINGTON - Metro says train service has been suspended on the blue, orange and silver lines between Farragut West and L'Enfant Plaza due to a water main break at Metro Center.
The transit agency is urging commuters to consider alternate travel options Tuesday on the blue, orange and silver lines. Metro says a water main break at 12th and F streets is causing the disruption. Suspending service on three lines will affect tens of thousands of commuters.
Transit officials say there are major delays and crowding after train service was suspended. Shuttle buses are being provided.
A Metro spokesman says water has come down into the Metro Center station and flooded the lower-level tracks.
Service on the yellow, green and red lines is operating normally.
Several people reported seeing streets in the area around the break buckling.
