Craig Strickland's body found a week after he went missing
Craig Strickland was found dead a week after going missing while duck hunting, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol confirmed.
His wife, Helen, took to Twitter Monday with the sad news, writing: "#CraigStrickland was found today. He is safe with his Father in Heaven. Thank you Lord for leading us to him today. I will praise you, Amen."
Authorities said the Marine Enforcement Division recovered his body on Monday morning in Kaw Lake, which is located eight miles away from Ponca City, nearby the Oklahoma-Kansas state line.
The 29-year-old lead singer of Backroad Anthem went missing Dec. 27 while duck hunting with his friend Chase Morland during severe storm in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Since then, authorities have been looking for Strickland along a lake in northern Oklahoma.
In the days after he went missing, Strickland's wife updated her social accounts with the latest on the search. She thanked friends and family for their support, as well as rescue workers for all of their efforts:
Authorities recovered Morland's body from the lake where their boat capsized last week. Prior to the hunting trip Morland tweeted: "In case we don't come back, @BackroadCRAIG and I are going right through Winter Storm Goliath to kill ducks in Oklahoma. #IntoTheStorm"
