Cops: D.C. man threw baby down stairs in home invasion
WOODBRIDGE, Va. -- A Washington, D.C. man is in custody after a home invasion in which he allegedly threw a 7-month-old baby down a flight of stairs, reports CBS affiliate WUSA.
Police say 38-year-old James Tony Brown forced his way into the home of an acquaintance -- a 53-year-old woman -- in Woodbridge, Va., Tuesday night and assaulted her. He then allegedly went into an upstairs bedroom, grabbed the infant girl and thew her down a flight of stairs, reports the station.
Police say the child suffered a serious injury to her leg.
Brown then struck a 24-year-old woman in the home over the head with a glass bottle and fled, police say. The woman suffered minor injuries.
Brown was reportedly arrested Wednesday at his northeast Washington, D.C. home.
He's charged with two counts of malicious wounding, one count of cruelty or injuries to children, one count of burglary and one count of simple assault. He's in custody in Washington and is awaiting extradition to Virginia.
