Cops: Remains of Missing Va. Student Found
Virginia state police say they believe the human remains discovered on a southern Albermarle County farm are those of Morgan Harrington, the Virginia Tech student who has been missing since Oct. 17.
State Police Superintendent Steve Flaherty said Tuesday an autopsy will be conducted to confirm that the remains are Morgan Harrington. Authorities say they found significant items and evidence at the scene.
Farmer David Bass says he was surveying his property Tuesday morning looking at fences when he spotted the remains. The farm is about 10 miles from where 20-year-old Harrington was last seen.
Harrington became separated from friends after she left a Metallica concert at the John Paul Jones Arena in Charlottesville arena and was denied re-entry.
The Roanoke woman's parents were seen at the Charlottesville state police barracks Tuesday afternoon.
