Cops: New York man fatally stabs wife, crashes car after 25-mile police chase
NEW YORK - Authorities say a man fatally stabbed his wife at their suburban New York home then led a 25-mile police chase that ended in a fiery crash at a Brooklyn gas station.
Nassau County police say the couple’s 16-year-old daughter suffered defensive stab wounds to her hands, forearms and ankle during the incident in Bethpage. Her 12-year-old brother, who called 911 around 12:40 a.m. Friday, was not physically harmed.
Det. Lt. Richard LeBrun says the man was found on a parkway and fled west to Brooklyn.
He ran from his car after crashing in Brooklyn. Police subdued him as flames from two vehicles and a gas pump roared nearby.
Four officers were treated for injuries including smoke inhalation.
The suspect was hospitalized with stab wounds to his neck and wrist.
