(CBS/WCBS) BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Police say they've received nearly 1,000 tips about missing Indiana University student Lauren Spierer, but none have helped them so far in their investigation.

About a third of the tips came in after the television show "America's Most Wanted" aired a segment Saturday about the missing student, police said according to CBS station WCBS.

At Tuesday's press briefing, Bloomington police Capt. Joe Qualters shared one unconfirmed tip that claimed Spierer's friends may have panicked and disposed of her body after a possible cocaine overdose.

"We are not going to focus on one aspect of information that we get in until that information can be corroborated," Qualters said.

Police say they are waiting for the FBI to complete an enhancement of security video of the area where the Spierer was last seen June 3, walking alone toward her apartment after a night of drinking with friends. The footage shows one, or possibly, two vehicles driving in the area, according to police.

Lauren's mother, Charlene Spierer, made another impassioned statement Tuesday.

"I start every day hoping that today is the day; I go to sleep every night knowing that I have failed and that I haven't done enough," she said.

There is a $100,000 reward for information that could help solve the case, and the university has given $50,000 to help fund the search.
